AIMS Membership Exam

Overview

If you are an AIMS member and have been advised by us that you are eligible to sit for the exam, you may sit the AIMS Membership Examination in order to re-classify to Member.

Please note that the AIMS Membership Examination CANNOT be used for migration purposes. If you intend to apply for migration to Australia, have applied to migrate or wish to do so in the future please visit the AIMS Professional Examination page. If in doubt please contact us for clarification BEFORE enrolling into any examination.

AIMS Membership Exam Information

The AIMS Membership Examination has two options once you have been approved as eligible for the examinations by the Membership Committee.

You can sit for the AIMS Membership Multidisciplinary Examination which has 5 sections (Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology/Cytology, Blood Transfusion and Haematology) or you can sit the AIMS Membership Single Discipline Examination (Australian members only).

Upon successful completion of the AIMS Membership Examination, members will be eligible for professional Membership of AIMS. The AIMS Membership Examinations are held in centres around Australia and in other countries twice yearly, in March and September. The venue list is attached below.

Please note if you sit the single discipline Membership examination your professional Membership will only be applicable for that discipline. To be able to apply for the AIMS Membership Examination and receive an application form, one must be approved by the AIMS Membership Committee as eligible to sit the exam.

If you have been approved as eligible to sit the AIMS Membership Examination the documents below may assist you in your study and preparation for the examination.

You should receive notification of your examination and venue by:

  • The second week of February (for March examinations)
  • The second week of August (for September examinations)

If you do not receive notification by 15th February (March examination) or 15th August (September examination) please contact us immediately.
