Why become Certified?
Your status as a certified medical laboratory professional is a public guarantee that you are qualified, competent and continuing your professional development.
What this means for AIMS members utilising APACE
AIMS Members using the APACE scheme to track their professional development activities can now apply to be certified through AIMS National Office - free of charge to AIMS members.
How do I apply for CMLS Certification?
As part of your AIMS membership, AIMS National Office will now issue
Certification to APACE users who have completed their required CPD
activities, have been issued their APACE certificate and provided a competency assessment signed by their employer. AIMS Members have an APACE record and submission system in Member Centre.
Please provide the following documents to the AIMS National Office via email [email protected]
1. Your APACE certificate
2. Your current resume (to confirm employment)
3. A CMLS Competency declaration signed and emailed directly from your supervisor to AIMS.
APACE Affiliated Organisations
AIMS National Office will be processing applications for Certification for members of APACE affiliated organisations.
Even if you are not an AIMS Member or a member of one of our APACE affiliated organisations, you can still participate in the APACE scheme
for a fee.
Changes to Certification arrangements for the Medical Laboratory Science Profession
From April 2023, the Australian Council
for the Certification of the Medical Laboratory Scientific Workforce
(CMLS) Board are no longer accepting applications for certification
directly. Instead, professional bodies operating CMLS approved CPD
schemes will be able to issue certification on behalf of the Council for
their members who meet the requirements for certification as detailed
on the CMLS website.
