There are two types of membership reclassification: 

Upgrade

AIMS Members who have updated their qualifications and/or professional experience and wish to request reclassification of their membership category.

NOTE: If you were previously or currently classified under the AIMS Student membership category, please click here.

Retained Membership

AIMS Members who have left the medical laboratory workforce due to one or more of the following reasons:

  • Ill health
  • Over the age of 60 years and working not more than 10 hours per week

Retained Members will still hold the rights of their previous class of membership; i.e. if the individual is a Professional Member at the time of being reclassified, they will still continue to enjoy the rights of a Professional Member. This includes the right to hold office, the right to vote at general meetings, discount registration for events, and free access to the Australian Journal of Medical Science and our online learning resources.
