Nominations Open for the 2026 AIMS President & Board Director Elections
The Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS) is calling for nominations for the 2026 Board Elections.
This is an opportunity for eligible members to help shape the future direction of AIMS by nominating for the positions of President or Director.
Positions Available
Nominations are invited for:

President (one position)
-
Director (three positions)
Successful candidates will take office from the date of the 2026 AIMS Annual General Meeting and will serve a two-year term.
Nominations close at 5:00 pm (AEST) on Friday, 14 August 2026.
Who Can Nominate?
Voting members of AIMS are invited to nominate suitable candidates.
Voting members include all membership categories except:

Affiliate Members
-
Student Members
-
Corporate Members
Eligibility requirements for all Board positions are outlined in Clause 10.5 of the AIMS Constitution.
Eligibility for Director
To be eligible for election as a Director, nominees must:

Hold Professional Membership of AIMS

Be financial at the time of nomination
-
Be nominated by at least two financial voting members of AIMS using the official nomination form
Eligibility for President
To be eligible for election as President, nominees must:

Meet all Director eligibility requirements
-
Have served as either:
-
an AIMS Director, or
-
a member of the AIMS Advisory Council,
for at least two of the previous four years before standing for election.
Election Process
If more than one nomination is received for the position of President, a ballot will be conducted using a first-past-the-post voting system.
If more than three nominations are received for the Director positions, a ballot will also be conducted using the same voting system.

Director Identification Number (DIN)
Members intending to nominate for either the position of President or Director must obtain a Director Identification Number (DIN) before taking office.
The Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) administers the Director ID program, while ASIC is responsible for enforcing the legislative requirements under the Corporations Act 2001.
Failure to obtain a Director ID when required is an offence under the Act.
To apply, visit the Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) website. The process involves three simple steps:

Set up a myGovID (this is different from a myGov account).

Gather your identity documents.

Complete your Director ID application.

Submit Your Nomination
Completed nomination forms must be received by the AIMS National Office no later than 5:00 pm (AEST) on Friday, 14 August 2026.

A confirmation email will be sent once your nomination has been received. If you do not receive confirmation, please contact the AIMS National Office.
