NOTE: To be able to apply for the AIMS Membership Examination and receive an application form, you must be approved by the AIMS Membership Committee as eligible to sit an exam.

Upon passing the AIMS Membership Examination, members will be eligible for Professional membership of AIMS.

Guidelines for Membership of AIMS 

AIMS has 2 types of membership examinations for the professional levels of membership.  Both examinations are conducted twice per year in March and September using online remote proctored software.

Membership (Multidisciplinary) Examination

Membership Single Discipline Examinations

The AIMS Membership (Multidisciplinary) Examination has 7 sections:

  • Anatomical Pathology
  • Chemical Pathology
  • Molecular Pathology
  • Haematology
  • Immunopathology
  • Medical Microbiology 
  • Transfusion Science

The AIMS Membership Single Discipline Examination (Australian members only) is available in:

  • Anatomical Pathology
  • Chemical Pathology
  • Haematology
  • Immunopathology
  • Medical Microbiology
  • Transfusion Science

NOTE: AIMS Membership Examinations cannot be used for migration purposes.

If you intend to apply for migration to Australia under the Skilled Migration Program, you will need to apply for a different assessment. See Qualifications & Skills Assessment for Migration for more information. 

You will receive an email notifying your examination date and time by:

  • The second week of February (for March examinations)
  • The second week of August (for September examinations)

If you have not been notified by 15 February (March examination) or 15 August (September examination), please contact us immediately.
